Docent Educator Program

The MAK Center for Art and Architecture’s Docent Educator Program is seeking enthusiastic art and architecture aficionados to join its volunteer team, helping visitors of all ages enjoy the innovative architecture and arts programming at the Schindler House and special events at the Mackey Apartments and Fitzpatrick-Leland House. 

The MAK Center docent program runs Wednesday through Sunday and docent educators work on a volunteer basis, typically providing tours of the Schindler House and MAK Center exhibitions. At times, additional assistance may be requested for special events across our three sites. 

Docents commit to attending one docent workshop on March 10 2024 and volunteering for a minimum of four docent-led tours of the house a year. More information can be found in the Rules and Guidelines handout. 

In appreciation of their service, docent educators receive free admission to the Schindler House; discounts in the MAK Center Bookstore; and access to special events and opportunities to tour rarely seen architectural sites in and around Los Angeles. 

Docent Educators who gave four tours of Schindler House do not need to repeat the docent training. Please indicate on the form if you wish to continue being a docent.
