Gerald Zugmann is credited with establishing a new generation of architectural photography. Moving beyond mere documentary, Zugmann’s photos are interpretive yet uniquely expressive of the architect’s intentions, revealing the singular character of a particular building or project. The exhibition Gerald Zugmann: Blue Universe, Architectural Manifestos by COOP HIMMELB(L)AU portrayed the decades-long collaboration between the photographer, Wolf D. Prix and Helmut Swiczinsky, founders of the avant-garde Austrian architecture firm COOP HIMMELB(L)AU.
