The exhibition Otto Neurath. Gypsy Urbanism reflected on the career of little-known Austrian sociologist Otto Neurath (1888-1945), a polymath whose intellectual and moral compass—forged in the embers of World War I—led him to predict the dramatic growth of the knowledge economy and to develop tools for a universal pictorial language.

Artists and UFI Fellows Nasrin Tabatabai and Babak Afrassiabi make up the collaborative team Pages – as which they aim to create possibilities for reflecting on politically and socially contingent conditions of cultural practice in order to generate a space of criticality. In their installation The Isle, Tabatabai and Afrassiabi focused on the contemporary circumstances of Kish, an island in the Persian Gulf, to explore notions of “geopolitical indecisiveness.”

The final segment of the exhibition series Locus Remix. Three Contemporary Postions featured Austrian artist Dorit Margreiter.

Continuing the Locus Remix. Three Contemporary Positions series, Ismail Farouk, a Fellow in the MAK Urban Future Initiative, presented a survey of his activities and strategies for activating change, including video, photography and performance.
